Helloooooo winter! With winter we welcome lower humidity, heat that will dry your skin and the icy chill that will give you chapped, dry and flaky skin. As your skin becomes dryer it weakens and loses the ability to protect itself. This can compromise all those months of proper skin care! To stay healthy skin needs to be treated differently in the winter months, so say good bye to your regular routine and hello to some deeper moisturizing products! Here are some great ways to keep your dewy glow all year round, even when moisture is scarce!

1. Make sure you STAY HYDRATED! This is the easiest way to help the moisture in your skin. Drink lots of water, green tea and other hydrating beverages. This will also fight against those winter coughs and colds.

2. Swap out your gel cleanser for a cream cleanser. No need to dehydrate your skin even more with oil control cleansers as well.

3. Don’t forget to exfoliate, your skin is much more delicate in the winter, so it is time to schedule a Microdermabrasion instead of using an over the counter option.

4. Before you moisturize try using a serum on your damaged skin, this will help to replenish moisture and make your skin elasticity be restored. Not sure which one to get? We can help with a recommendation!

5. It’s time to start using a cream based moisturizer, even people with oily skin get dry skin in the winter. If you are experiencing that, it’s time to find a solution that is more dense!

6. If you don’t apply eye cream regularly, now is the time to start! Don’t neglect your eyes!

7. Keep your lips kissable by exfoliating and using lip balm regularly! Nothing’s worse than chapped lips!

It’s time to pamper your skin, but don’t indulge in too many baths and long showers. These will strip the natural oils from your skin. Keep your bathing shorter during the winter. Don’t neglect hand and body lotion and of course sunscreen. Though the sun doesn’t seem as strong in the winter your skin continues to soak up those harmful UV rays! Preparation will help you enjoy this blistery season and help your skin stay moisturized and feeling good!
